A sombre mood continues to engulf the crew and fans of Millaz Production Kenya after their highly anticipated comercial stage play, I Know my Rights, received a blow following the sudden death of the lead actor Donwill Odero.

The 24-year old passed on at Kenyatta National Hospital while undergoing medical rehabillitation at the ICU following a road accident.

Popularly known as Kidero, the talented actor was reportedly involved in a road accident after coming from the rehearsals in Nairobi on November 16, 2021.

According to family members and friends, Odero sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to KNH the same night for medical intervention where he was admited to the ICU for almost a week.

However, Kidero was pronounced dead on 22nd of November, 2021, with his death shocking the family, friends and production crew at Millaz Production.

His exit means the play Directors, Ted Munene and Saumu Kombo, had to use an undercast to assume Donwill’s role in the December 4th-sheduled play.

Taking to his Facebook account, Millaz founder and film veteran Xavier Nato regretted the demise, sayig it’s a big blow to the theatre industry in the country.

“If there’s a play I have ever felt that I’ve scripted enough, then it’s this “I Know my Rights.” It’s so sad and shocking to lose our lead actor just days before staging it,” wrote the former Bungoma High School actor.

Fans are now holding an online funds drive to offset the medical bill and funeral expenses amounting to Ksh1.5 million.

Coincedentally, the departed’s family has reportedly lost two other kins in less than a year.

Millaz Productions Kenya is a film and theatre company that scouts and targets fresh talents to train and stage live performances.

The play is expected to be staged on December 4th as sheduled with tickets going at Ksh1,000 for individuals; Sh1,800 for couples and Sh4,000 for a group of 5 people.

The cast include Ken Aswani, Flora Okonji, Ileene Anyona, Tony Munyeria, Vivian Nyawira, Robison Mudavadi, Mike Ndaka, Hassan Katana, Sophie Masenza as well as Assey Fenty.
