Close to 400 teachers drawn from various parts of Bungoma County held a luncheon moment for Madam Rebecca Masibayi for her exceptional work in their welfare.
The event, which took place at Santa Mara resort on Monday 13th December, 2021 in Bungoma town, saw dozens of speakers hail the tutor for her dedication in ensuring that the welfare of teachers is well shaped and taken care of.
Since founding the welfare nearly five years ago, Ms Masibayi has been accredited with bringing transparency to the union as treasurer.
Many speakers praised her active energy and sacrifice in protecting the rights of teachers.
Bungoma County Executive (CECM) for Public Works, Mr. Richard Sabwami, acknowledged the role Madam Masibayi has played in the society, asking the residents to support her candidature.
“It’s time the people of Bungoma looked at Masibayi with a good eye. She has not only touched the lives of the teachers but also the residents of Bungoma,” said Mr. Sabwami who was a school Principal before the County appointment.
Through her charity initiative, Ms Masibayi has also built houses for the needy and pushed her Girl Child Advocacy initiative to support needy girls to further their education.
KUPPET Branch Governing Council Members including Mr. Khayota Wafula and Ferdnand Wanyonyi also hailed Masibayi for her incredible job and encouraged her to go for the coveted seat.
“This is the time for the people of Bungoma to get a proactive Woman Representative like Rabecca Masibayi. She is capable of handling the needs of the residents if given that capacity, ” said Mr. Khayota.
On her part, Masibayi thanked the teachers for the amazing gesture and promised to better the lives of teachers and and all her electorals.
“I just want to thank you for this wonderful support and encouragement and want to promise you all that I will honour my pledge as always,” she said.
The event was attended by dozens of Union leaders and school Principals who affirmed their support for her.
