Over 1,000 needy families across Bungoma County had something to smile about after former Communications Authority Director-General Eng. Dr. Francis Wangusi traversed the region to share Christmas gifts with them.
The rare show of humility targeted needy families including the elderly, people living with disabilities and orphans across Bungoma County.
Each family was receiving a packet of wheat flour, sugar, cooking oil, tea leaves, bar soap, salt and rice.
While addressing the families, Engineer Wangusi stated that he felt humbled and happy to share the little he had with the needy who may not afford even a soup in their homes.
“This is part of my humble way of celebrating this Christmas day. There’s nothing that could have made me happier than just sharing with our neighbours, friends, relatives and the needy and this is what Christmas all about, said Wangusi while addressing residents in Sirisia.
Wangusi kicked off his program in Mt. Elgon where he donated food stuff to families in Kapsokwony and Chesikaki before finishing in Siria Constituency at the Sirisia NG-CDF grounds.
The program is being coordinated by the Bungoma Redcross Team and area chiefs.
The exercise is expected to continue tomorrow in Tongaren, Kimilili and Webuye West and Webuye East then finish up with Bumula and Kanduyi on Monday.
Even though Engineer Wangusi has not publicly declared his interest in the Bungoma Gubernatorial race, his speeches were enough to reveal a man on a mission.
“When you look at the living standards and infrastructure of these areas, you don’t need a dictionary to know that our people have been neglected. When I come back and you give me an opportunity, I will sort this,” added Wangusi who was putting on a branded cap, FRANCIS W. WANGUSI FOR GOVERNOR, BUNGOMA COUNTY.”
Wangusi is remembered for switching off analogue television broadcasting in the digital migration, a move that has seen millions of Kenyans enjoy quality viewing.
