There were 23.35 million internet users in Kenya in January 2022.
Kenya’s internet penetration rate stood at 42.0 percent of the total population at the start of 2022.
Kepios analysis indicates that internet users in Kenya increased by 1.6 million (+7.4 percent) between 2021 and 2022.
For perspective, these user figures reveal that 32.25 million people in Kenya did not use the internet at the start of 2022, meaning that 58.0 percent of the population remained offline at the beginning of the year.
Lack of Internet access could be attributed to poor living standards that may not enable families and individuals to purchase data bundles. Physical locations are also a big concern.
This begs the question, is Kenya capable of providing free internet connection to her citizen?
Here, we look at the top 20 countries in the world that provide free Wi-fi to their residents.
