Bungoma County Cabinet Executive Secretaries Collins Mukhongo and Dr. Anthony Walela have continued to rally the residents to re-elect Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.

Speaking in Namasanda village, Musikoma ward on Friday, the CECMs in charge of Roads and Health departments respectively, urged the electorates to re-elect Mr. Wangamati, saying that his development record during his first term in office is enough to inspire a brilliant future.

Mr. Mukhongo, who is still coming to terms with burying his 22 year-old son, the late Darren Mang’oli, put up a spirited heart to mobilise voters behind Wangamati.

“We have only ten days to go [to the election] and this is a period that will determine whether we endorse story tellers or performers,” said Mr. Mukhongo.

Mukhongo also mentioned the Kanduyi-Musikoma Dual Carriageway, the Webuye Milk Processing Plant and several feeder roads that have been rehabilitated across the county as stepping stones that have emerged during Wangamati’s leadership.

“Before Governor Wycliffe Wangamati came into office, this road was a hectic headache of traffic jam in Bungoma town but as you can see, the Dual Carriageway has made it easy for businesses to go on without traffic disruption.”

His Health counterpart, Dr. Walela, fished pride in the 300-bed capacity maternity wing at the Bungoma County Referral Hospital that is aimed at reducing congestion in wards.

“Our hospital had stayed for over 50 years without any expansion and it’s under Governor Wangamati’s leadership that we have installed the 300-bed capacity maternity wing, the ICU section, the free cancer screening Centre and the eye unit,” he said.

Dr. Walela also stated that Governor Wangamati’s leadership has improved the healthcare standards across the 45 wards, stating that re-electing Wangamati to polish such projects will be the best thing for the residents of Bungoma County.

The dual asked the residents not to be swayed by former Governor Kenneth Lusaka’s story-telling theatrics that have nothing to materialise since the time he was elected.

Governor Wangamati, who is seeking a re-election on Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) under Azimio Coalition, is facing Mr. Lusaka in the upcoming election.

Mukhongo and Walela are among the CECMs who have been going around rallying supporters to re-elect Wangamati and Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
