A leading supermarket in Kenya has announced that it will remain closed on the election day on August 9, 2022.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, the fast-growing retailer stated that the move is aimed at allowing their members of staff to participate in the general election.

“To our esteemed customers, we shall remain closed on 9th of Aug, 2022 to allow our members of staff to participate in the voting process,” read part of the presser.

However, the retailer assured customers that they have enough stock to serve all their customers across the country on the eve of the election day.

“We are well stocked to serve our customers on the day prior to the elections.”

Online customers will also have no reason to worry as business will continue as usual but orders will close at 5pm on Monday.

“For our online customers, we will close our last orders at 5pm on Monday 8th August, 2022, with no deliveries made on 9th August.”

The chain, which has now spread into 21 branches across the country, added that operations will resume the following day after all their staff have taken part in their constitional right and duty to elect leaders of their choice and urged citizens to remain peaceful during the election period.

“We shall resume normal operations on the 10th of August, 2022. Let us maintain peace throughout this time.”

Extensively, the retailer has lined up a series of offers for all their customers across the country, ranging from kitchen, sanitation among others.
