Lugulu Girls National School Principal is again in the limelight after raging complaints that suggest she is running down the once prestigious institution.

Among the allegations raised against Ms Dinah Cheruiyot include arrogant harassment of teachers infront of parents and learners, faking KCSE results, transferring teachers who question the academic progress of the school, tribalism as well as graft allegations.

One of the parents who shared the allegations with this editor stated that the Principal haď faked the 2021 KCSE results which the staff, learners and the entire community celebrated unknowingly.

It’s said that the Principal released fake mean score of 9.4 to the public contrary to the 8.7 recorded by the Ministry of Education in the country.Reports indicate that the officers from the Ministry visited the Principal to establish why she lied to the public on the school’s performance but were reported to have gone mute on their follow up with the Principal with many guessing what could have happened in her office.

Further, some of the staff who requested for anonymity due to fear of being victimised, have whispered to us that the teachers had not been given the final results of the 2021 KCSE outcome to analyse and make an improvement projection for the following academic target.

Still on academics, it’s alleged that her arrogance against the teachers has instilled low self esteem in the tutors, killing their teaching morale.

According to the parent, the school charges Ksh10,000 per year for remedials but teachers don’t receive all their dues, making a section of parents to question this expenditure.

Any teacher who tries to raise a voice about the Principal’s commitment to bettering the academic results of the school is reportedly victimised and transferred to a school that Ms Cheruiyot dictates with the aid of rogue officers in the Ministry of Education.

Reached for comments, Bungoma County KUPPET Chair, Mr David Barasa, declined to comment on the issue, stating that he didn’t want to be entangled in the saga.

“Our role as KUPPET is to ensure that our teachers are in safe hands. I don’t want to comment further on this because the Principal and other teachers are all our clients,” said Mr. Barasa, in a telephone interview with WakajuanessLive.Com.

The Lugulu Girls is sponsored by the Friends’ Church- Quakers, who have played a vital role in the institution.

In an interview with the Church leadership, the sponsors said they don’t rely on hearsay but will take time to look into the matter and find an amicable solution should there be any problem.

“The Church respects the institution and if anything has ever come to our table, we have a way of finding a truce. I don’t want to be quoted further,” said Mr. Timothy Nasinga, one of the Friends Church officials.

It’s also alleged that the Principal has come with her own suppliers from Eldoret who have been given lucrative tenders.

It’s said that complaints have been channelled to EACC to investigate and it’s not clear why no substantial actions have been taken.

Sources say the Principal recently hosted a few boda boda riders from the community where she reportedly dished out brown envelopes to silence them.

Some parents say that raising a voice will have their children victimised and probably expelled from the school.

The Principal has also overseen a surge of too much traffic in the school with the students population now floating over 2,600 where it’s alleged that she dishes out Form One slots at a tune of Ksh20,000 per head, with most of those slots being awarded to students from her native Kalenjin region.

Since joining Lugulu Girls from Moi Girls Kapsowar in Elgeyo Marakweti in 2017 during the delocolisation programme and replacing Madam Margaret Mechumo who was moved to Kisumu Girls, Ms Dinah Chebii Cheruiyot has come under fire from parents and the community.

This comes barely two years after students of Lugulu Girls stormed out of the school to stage a shock protest in streets of Webuye town, accusing the management of harbouring rape suspects in the school.

The students claimed that the school management had beem reluctant to take action against ‘sex predators’ who target the young learners in the school during odd hours.

Our efforts to reach out for her comments to hear her other side of the story were fruitless as our calls did not go through neither did she return our short message service (SMS).
