The reigning Miss Tourism Kenya People’s Choice has organised a modeling event at Bungoma Women’s Prison.

Ms Joyce Nasambu will visit the correctional facility on Friday 28th, 2022 in a move aimed at expanding her Charity activities across the region.

Ms Nasambu, who was crowned the Miss Tourism Bungoma in 2018 before bagging the country’s People’s Choice Award later on in Nairobi, has planned a beehive of activities at the institution, including donating five tailoring machines, sanitary items to the women and children as well as a feeding exercise during the day.

Confirming the event, the Joyce Nasambu Foundation founder and CEO said her previous visit to the institution has inspired her to share the little she has with the needy.

“I was here sometime ago and felt the challenges that these female inmates go through and the need to better their lives in a whichever smaller way,” she told this publication.

Ms Nasambu added that she has partnered with other brands to achieve the day, among them, Charity Modeling Club, which is currently training the inmates on modeling before their presentation on the material day.

MC Elpho (Ephus Jumba) will oversea the day’s programme while Abisha Carters will be in charge of décor and hospitality.

The models, all of them being the inmates, will be dressed by Jessy Trends while make ups will be done by Make Up by June.

Winners will get an opportunity to bag several gifts which should first be approved by the Inspector in charge of the Prison.

This will be Nassmbu’s second major Charity event since the then President Uhuru Kenyatta lifted restriction on public gatherings following the decline of Covid-19 in the country.

The beauty pageant started her charity engagements way back in 2015 including planting trees, anti-jigger programme, donating school uniforms to children living with disabilities and visiting inmates.

Bungoma Women’s Prison has 68 inmates with 12 children aged below four by the time of our pre-visit before this event.

Nasambu has encouraged well wishers to support the event as a way of giving back to the society.
