Ford Kenya National Youth Wing have criticised the new UDA Secretary-General Cleophas Malalah for asking National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula to resign.

Speaking at the Simba House in Nairobi, the wing slammed Malala for demanding that Mr. Wetang’ula resigns as the Ford-Kenya Party leader with immediate effect.

Mr. Malala has called upon Mr. Wetang’ula to either chose between being the Speaker of the National Assembly or the Party Leader of Ford Kenya.

“We are calling upon our friend Cleophas Malala for his constant demands that our Speaker Moses Wetang’ula must resign as Ford Kenya party leader. We want Mr. Malala to respect our Speaker,” said Mr. Evans Karani, the Wing’s Deputy Secretary General.

The group also called on Malala to stop being used by the UDA leadership to undermine Mr. Wetang’ula and the former ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi.

The group also rejected any calls to have Ford Kenya fold up to join UDA, saying they will defend the former Bungoma Senator all the time whom they termed as the Luhya kingpin.

“Mr. Wetang’ula is not a small person that can be mocked by someone like Cleophas Malala who lost the recent election. Malala should apologise to Wetang’ula,” fumed Karani.

Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya and Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC were part of Kenya Kwanza coalition that won the Presidential election in 2022.

Malala has constantly demanded that all parties under Kenya Kwanza Coalition must be disbanded and join UDA, a direction that has caused controversy amongst the President William Ruto’s government.
