The political landscape in Webuye East is undergoing a significant transformation as the 2027 parliamentary race shapes up to be a highly contested affair.

What was initially perceived as a three-horse race between the incumbent MP Martin Wanyonyi and his longtime ally Violet Makhanu and Caro Buyela has evolved into a multi-faceted competition.

A new entrant, Mr. Thomas Isoka Nakitare, popularly known as Yisebele, has injected fresh vigor into the political arena.

Yisebele, a youthful and benevolent aspirant, has successfully garnered support from both the youth and middle-aged demographics, posing a formidable challenge to the incumbent.

Hon. Wanyonyi, known by the moniker ‘Investor,’ has traditionally relied on the backing of the youth and women.

However, recent developments indicate a shift in this support base. The emergence of Yisebele has caused a divergence among these crucial voting blocs.

Aggrey Namisi, a KNUT official who initially held a substantial influence, is witnessing a decline in his political standing.

Dissatisfaction is growing among his supporters, accusing him of playing the role of a spoiler instead of focusing on his responsibilities at the KNUT national office.

Mwalimu Namisi, also known as Bwana Dawa, and Hon. Violet Makhanu, alias ‘Mayi Omulesi,’ have encountered challenges in captivating the youth and political brokers, leading to a decrease in their grassroots popularity.

Their momentum appears to be waning as the political landscape intensifies.

The current trajectory suggests that the Webuye East parliamentary race will be a closely contested affair, primarily between the incumbent Hon. Investor and the dynamic challenger Hon. Yisevele.

The race promises to be fiercely competitive as it heads towards the final stretch.
