Saboti MP Caleb Amisi is among the Kenyan leaders who have joined the world in mourning the iconic mountain climber, Mr. Cheruiyot Kirui.
This is after Mr Kirui, who had reached the peak of Mount Kenya more than 10 times, went missing above 8,000 metres on Mt Everest on Wednesday.
However, the Kenyan banker was found lifeless in the ‘death zone’, area above 8,000 metres, on Thursday morning.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Cheruiyot Kirui, a brave and inspiring climber. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and the entire climbing community, tweeted the MP on his X account.
“May his adventurous spirit and remarkable achievements be remembered and honored. Rest in peace, Cheruiyot.”

The news about Kurui’s passing away was reported by the Everest Today, plunging the whole world into a mourning mood.
“With profound sadness, we share the news of Kenyan mountaineer Cheruiyot Kirui’s passing on Mt Everest. His body was found a few meters below the summit point of Mt Everest,” reports Everest Today, which covers mountaineering over the Himalayas and Karakoram with a special focus on 8, 000 metre peaks.
Kirui’s attempt to reach the peak of Mt Everest without a supplemental oxygen has caused an outcry on social media platforms, with thousands of his fans wishing he’d have obeyed nature and retreated.
These is after reports that the said danger zone has already claimed over 300 lives in the past decade, with some bodies yet to be collected.
