A section of Christians at the Catholic Diocese of Bungoma have launched silent murmurs against Bishop Mak Kadima, criticizing his way of leadership.

According to our sources, Christians have raised a couple of issues observed in Bishop Kadima’s behavior, terming it ‘unpopular’.

The Christians are unhappy with the frequent transfers that have kept their priests constantly in transit. The short tenures of priests in parishes has greatly hindered development, preventing them from initiating and completing long-term projects.

They claim that the Bishop often criticizes the priests publicly, leading the congregation to lose respect for them.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Another issue raised by the faction depicts Kadima as an absentee Bishop who is running the affairs of the diocese from his Kholera home in the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega.

Sources intimate that after learning of the complaints about his choice of his operation from his Kholera home in Kakamega, the Bishop reportedly forged an excuse that his official diocese residence is under renovation, rendering him ‘homeless’ for now.

But according to our findings, the issue of renovations came after he had already started operating from Matungu Constituency, therefore disqualifying the excuse.

Additionally, the Diocese has so many other Parish residences where he can still operate from, with his official office still open for utility.

Other complaints on our desk reveal that Bishop Kadima insists on personally managing all departments while remaining adamant to consultations, making other key church leaders feel useless and unwanted.

DIVIDE AND RULE

Some Christians have complained that the Bishop employs a divide and rule strategy by being two-faced; when he is with priests who hail from Busia County, he speaks negatively about priests who hail from Bungoma County and vice versa with threats to take actions against them something that has affected emotional well-being of priests.

Observers argue that Bishop Kadima’s divide and rule strategy might strongly revive the 2021 demands from some Christians and political leaders to split the Bungoma diocese into Bungoma and Busia dioceses.

According to them, the Bishop lacks an advisory team and has no policy on the creation of new parishes.

WEAKENING PARISHES

Our investigation establishes that the Bishop initially found 42 Parishes and has already created 24 more, many of which are unstable due to a lack of clear policy in their creation for the 30 months that he has been in office.

By establishing new parishes casually, he has significantly weakened the existing ones, causing Christians to struggle to maintain their parishes.

Challengingly, the christians fear coming out vocal about the issue for fear of victimization, therefore leaking the intelligence to WakajuanessLive.Com.

IMPENDING PETITION

However, our sources have indicated that serious plans are underway to submit a formal petition to Archbishop Dr. Hubert Maria Van Megan, the Pope’s representative in Kenya and South Sudan, addressing the concerns raised and potentially forwarding it to the Vatican in Rome.

This is not the first time this blog has exposed several shortcomings in the Catholic church.

Our efforts to reach out to the Bishop for comments were unsuccessful.
