Pressure is still mounting on Bungoma on Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka following the recent revelation of grant corruption under his watch.
Bungoma Senator Wakoli Wafula has been the latest entrant to criticize Lusaka’s corrupt regime following the Sh148M spent on Madaraka Day celebrations in Bungoma.
Speaking at Pamusi during the funeral function of the late Habil Ikhabi, Mr. Wakoli launched attacks on Lusaka, saying the Governor has failed to put the County in order.
“In the 2023/2024 financial year, I brought Ksh13 billion to Bungoma County from the National Treasury but after walking around hospitals, I’m saddened that we don’t have drugs and any other development,” fumed Wakoli.
Wakoli also questioned the use of Sh148 million spent on Madaraka Day celebrations, saying an audit report is needed to unearth the financial mess at Bungoma County.
Wakoli, who had been silent when the Gen Z were staging peaceful protests in Bungoma town, has come out raging over the depth of corruption in Lusaka’s regime, asking the Governor to deliver his work to the residents.
“Everyone must play their role without any excuse. When we question the manner in which public funds are being used, it doesn’t qualify us as arrogant. We are simply asking for accountability,” he added.
Wakoli also questioned why Lusaka is now planting fresh flowers on the dualcarriageway at night only after the scandal on the ‘beautification’ has been exposed.
“After the Sh25 million scandal on beautification of the road is out, we are now seeing them plant fresh flowers at night. It’s only night-runners who work at night.”
Wakoli has also vowed to put Lusaka on toes, a role he had initially neglected.
Lusaka is reportedly preparing another state of the county address following the remarks with Gen Z planning to invite him to X Space that will be hosted by this writer on Tuesday July 30th from 19:21hrs.
