Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has called on the Luhya community to avoid being misused by ‘outsiders’ to cause divisions amongst themselves.

Writing on his X account on Friday, the youthful legislator stated that allowing leaders from other regions to come and humiliate local elected leaders on home soil was unfortunate and needs to be stopped.

This follows Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah’s attacks on Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya who had asked President William Ruto to end abductions of the young Kenyan critics of the Kenya Kwanza Government.

The ugly incident took place during the burial of Speaker Moses Wetang’ula’s mother, the late Mama Anne Nanyama Wetang’ula, in Mukhweya village, Kabuchai Constituency, Bungoma County.

“The great people of Bungoma, you should never allow your sons and daughters to be abused, humiliated or maligned by strangers who do not understand the atrocities meted on people of Western for along time,” wrote Mr. Amisi.

“Governor Natembea has his flaws, and he definitely deserve to be condemned, but Kiminini Ichungwa has no moral authority to lecture and abuse even a hen that has come home late anywhere in the western region. Ford Kenya party and Hon. Speaker has enough gallant leaders who can defend him from existential threats or attacks by opponents.”

The ODM legislator also warned that outsiders should not take advantage of the peaceful nature of the people of Mulembe as a weakness.

“We can act and act viciously when threatened,” he added.

The MP, further, urged the state to end abductions, telling off leaders to avoid trading politics with the innocent lives of young Kenyans for their personal mileages.

Ichungwa’s venomous attacks on Governor Natembeya has highly been criticized by angry Kenyans, who termed him as a ‘man drank with power’.

Natembeya has since earned accolades for his bold stand on the issue of abductions.
