Excitement is building around as the renowned Kenyan Military music band, Maroon Commandos, prepares to make a triumphant return to Bungoma this Sunday.

The event promoter behind this eagerly anticipated concert has revealed that the Maroon Commandos have already in Western Kenya where they are scheduled to perform at a family event on Saturday. Following this, they will journey to Bungoma early Sunday morning.

Maureen, the event organizer, shared, “Maroon Commandos are around and will perform at a private family event before heading to Zuri.”

Zuri Place’s Director, Wafula Buke, has confirmed the band’s performance at Zuri on August 20th, 2023, starting at 6 pm. Buke is urging fans to come out in large numbers to witness this memorable occasion.

This weekend’s bonanza marks the second time in less than a year that Maroon Commandos will grace the stage at Zuri Place, situated along the Kanduyi-Webuye highway.

Enthusiasts from distant towns like Eldoret, Nakuru, Kitale, Kakamega, Kisumu and Busia have expressed keen interest in attending the show, with an affordable entrance fee of Ksh300.

Speaking exclusively to our correspondent, Mr. Buke assured that all preparations have been meticulously attended to, including adequate parking and robust security measures.

The Maroon Commandos Band, headquartered at 7 Kenya Rifle (7KR), boasts a rich history as one of Kenya’s most esteemed and accomplished musical ensembles.

Originating on October 1st, 1970, at Gilgil Barracks under the leadership of the inaugural CO 7KR, Lt. Col. J.M.M Wambua alias Nyeusi, the band initially performed cover versions, popular classics, soul rhythms, blues, Lingala, Rhumba, coastal melodies, old school hits, and twists.

The current lineup of the Maroon Commandos Band features talented members who contribute to its distinctive sound:
