A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of defiling his 10-year-old granddaughter in Cheptais Sub-County, Bungoma County.
On January 28, 2026, Senior Principal Magistrate Raymond Lang’at of the Sirisia Law Courts ruled that the prosecution had proven its case against Benson Kitui Siyoi beyond reasonable doubt.
The court determined that the evidence presented met the required legal threshold for conviction under Kenya’s Sexual Offences Act.
The magistrate imposed the maximum penalty of life imprisonment, as stipulated by law for defilement of a minor under 11 years of age.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report all suspected cases of child abuse promptly.
Community members are encouraged to actively support initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable children and combating sexual offences against minors.
