Bungoma Senator David Wafula Wakoli has read the riot act to the Climax Bus Company following the suspicious death of the late Cyrus Jirongo.
Speaking at the late’s burial yesterday in Lumakanda, Kakamega County, Wakoli stated that the company must come out and answer all the questions that the family and the Kenyans are asking, for it to be ‘cleared’ from the allegations.
“We are asking the Climax Buss company to give us the full names of those passengers that were in the fateful bus that killed Jirongo and a full detailed information on what happened.”
Wakoli also went ahead to urge Kenyans to boycott all the Climax Buses across the country, while questioning the inconsistencies in their public responses.
Cyrus Jirongo was reported to have died in a ‘road accident’ in Naivasha on December 13th after his Mercedes Benz allegedly collided with the Climax Bus.
According to the bus driver Mr. Tiras Kamau Githinji, Jirongo was joining the busy highway and was overtaking heavy traffic while oncoming into the lane of the bus, thus, the collision.
Githinji also stated that avoiding to hit Jirongo’s car would cost the lives of 67 passengers who were on board. However, none of those passengers alighted to take photos of the accidents, as obviously expected from the ever curious Kenyan road users.
Days later, Climax released a company statement reporting that the bus had 46 passengers, conflicting the earlier statement by their own driver who was the first-hand witness.
It’s these conflicting reports that Senator Wakili relied on to question the competency of the Climax Bus.
Kenyans on several social media forums came out guns blazing in support of Wakoli’s call, demanding for accountability for the precious life gone forever.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta led Kenyans in the final send off of the late Jorongo despite President William Ruto sending Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi to represent him.
Other leaders included the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, former Presidential Running Mate Martha Karua, Governors, Senator Edwin Sifuna, as well as CS Wycliffe Oparanya.
