Daniel ‘Dada’ Juma scored a brilliant volley at Bungoma High School Grounds to give Bungoma Superstars a deserved win in a hotly-contested afternoon against Bondo United.

The visitors had taken a lead in the 21st minute in a moment that should have completely demoralised the home side but resilience, determination and game plan kept the Silylivester Owino-coached side sharp in the game.

Ezekiel Simiyu, who skipped an important concurrent family event and deployed to the offensive role by Owino from his traditional left back, pounced on an idle ball in the box and took time arranging his feet to torment the net through the bottom right post with a dozen of minutes to first half.

Bondo missed a chance to double the lead when the ball bounced in-between keeper Brian Marani’s posts but the incident meant the first half with a 1-1 stalemate.

With the giant Bondo players towering high and dominating all aerial balls, Bungoma Superstars changed tact and deployed carpet football that squeeze all fruits when Kennedy Oloo ran on the right flank and slashed a cross into Dada’s feet to volley in the 78th minute. Dada had only scored 1 goal in 9 matches.

Samwel Wekesa could have made it 3-1 some minutes later but his efforts to move away from the target slowed down the build-up for the visiting defence to clear the ball.

Assuming the Head Coach role after the exit of Frankline Musumba two weeks ago, Sylvester ‘Ogonji’ Owino introduced his only sub of the day, Francis ‘Sakata’ Mukhebi, for Wekesa with three minutes to go.

While avoiding another disappointing weekend after last week’s loss to Transfoc FC in Kitale, Owino and his assistant, Aaron Wafula, maintained the 4-4-2 formation to lock all the spaces that Bondo could have used to get an equaliser.

Bungoma Superstars, who nearly gave a walk over to Transfoc due to financial constraints, hopes to continue with the winning streak when they travel to Kamugei FC in Bomet on Saturday.BUNGOMA SUPERSTARS LINEUP -4-4-2
