The Federation of Kenya Football (FKF) Bungoma Branch kicked off a two-day induction workshop for its newly-elected officials on Thursday at County Green Hotel in Kanduyi, Bungoma. This marks the first such initiative since the new office took charge nine months ago.
The workshop aims to equip elected officials and committee members with a clear understanding of their roles while fostering transparency, accountability, credibility and professionalism in football administration.
Organized by FKF Bungoma Branch Chairman, Eng. Denis Nyongesa Simiyu, who also serves as chairman of the Kenyan third-tier side Bungoma Superstars Football Club, the event underscores his commitment to restoring order and discipline in Bungoma’s football scene.
“We are doing this to empower our office with proper knowledge of their roles as they assume office. This will eradicate internal conflicts and promote discipline, teamwork and commitment toward growing grassroots football,” Eng. Nyongesa said during the opening session.
The workshop, which concludes on Friday, attracted notable figures, including NEC Western Kenya member Caleb Amwayi, APS Bomet coach Evans Mafuta—who recently guided his National Super League team to promotion to the Kenyan Premier League—and referee Elias Kuloba, among others.
The initiative is seen as a critical step in strengthening the governance of football in Bungoma and nurturing the sport at the grassroots level, aligning with FKF’s broader vision for football development in Kenya.
