On Wednesday, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Bungoma Branch underwent professional training to implement its ambitious three-year strategic plan, estimated at Ksh37 million.
The initiative focuses on developing grassroots and women’s football across Bungoma County.
The training, held at County Green Hotel along Malaba Highway in Kanduyi, was led by expert trainers from the Kenya School of Management.
Newly elected branch officials gained critical managerial skills to drive the strategic plan’s success.
Branch Secretary General Ezekiel Murani emphasized the economic potential of football.
“This training has shown us that football is more than recreation—it’s a pathway to economic empowerment for all stakeholders,” he said post-session.
Alfred ‘Alphy’ Makokha, Manager of Bungoma Sirens Football Club, highlighted the challenge of resource mobilization.
“Achieving the goals of this Ksh37 million plan requires diverse funding sources beyond FKF support. We’re committed to exploring alternative avenues to make this vision a reality,” he noted.
The induction, the second in three weeks for the branch’s new leadership, underscored the importance of professionalism and protocol adherence.
Football Coach Aaron Wafula said: “This training has clarified our roles, fostering credibility and attracting potential partners.”
Since his election, Branch Chairman Eng Denis Simiyu has championed transparency and professionalism in elevating Bungoma’s football standards.
“We’re dedicated to equipping our team with the skills needed to transform football in the county. This training is a step toward putting our vision into action,” said Simiyu, who is also the Patron of Bungoma Superstars Football Club, a third tier league side.
