Former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has been tipped to make a political comeback during the upcoming 2027 election.

Speaking during the memorial service of a known security personnel, Mr. Kennedy Wanyonyi, Mr. Majimbo Okumu stated that his experience in the political spheres project a clear comeback for the actuarial scientist Wycliffe Wangamati.

The former Khalaba Ward MCA in Kanduyi Constituency added that Wangamati’s star has been observed during his offpick days when his political career had been thought to be off forever.

According to Majimbo, who was Wangamati’s fierce critic as the Bungoma County Assembly Assembly Majority Leader, Wangamati is a reputable figure that deserves a second chance to escalate the development progress for the people of Bungoma.

“We have seen him as a great leader who is not out to fight the incumbent leaders and this is a very mature way of leadership,” said Majimbo, who also vied as the County Assembly Speaker.

Mr. Wangamati lost to former Governor Kenneth Lusaka in the 2022 general election but is widely regarded to make an easy come back in 2027 due to his developmental record and wisdom to avoid fighting Lusaka.

During his tenure from 2017-2022, Wangamati invested in the Scholarship Programme where bright but needy students got an opportunity to pursue their academic progress under the County Programme.

Wangamati also installed the first ever ICU outlet at the Bungoma County Referral Hospital.

Wangamati also promised to help the family of the late Ken, assuring them of a full academic support for the orphaned children.

“I will ensure that the children of the late Ken are accorded full academic support to ensure they achieve their dreams despite the sad demise of their beloved father,” said Wangamati.

The late Ken was one of Wangamati’s devoted security guards. Wangamati donated Ksh20,000 towards his send off.

Ken will be buried on Sat 10th July, 2023, at his home in Pamus estate, Bungoma town.

He succumbed to cardiac-related complications.
