UDA Secretary-General Cleophas Malala, joined by former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, delivered a resounding wake-up call to Luhya leaders, urging them to adopt a new approach to leadership and development the region.

Their powerful message was conveyed during a UDA Youth League gathering at Members Club in Bungoma on Sunday.

Malala, addressing the assembled crowd, challenged elected Luhya leaders to leverage their government positions to catalyze tangible development within the region.

Malala emphasized the need for accountability, particularly now that Luhya leaders hold key government roles.

“After spending so long in the cold, we are finally in government. We must be held accountable for our actions towards the people,” declared Malala.

He pointed out that Luhya leaders currently serving in government have no valid excuses for not delivering on their promises to the people.

“You can’t hold government positions and simultaneously be scrambling to raise funds for school and road construction,” Malala asserted.

Malala, who played a pivotal role in welcoming defectors from Ford Kenya to UDA during the event, encouraged residents to join the ruling party, UDA.

He emphasized that aligning with UDA would significantly enhance the chances of experiencing progress and development in the region.

Former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati echoed Malala’s sentiments, underlining the commitment of both leaders to broaden UDA’s reach by attracting more members from smaller parties that might lack the resources to bring meaningful change.

“We are constructing robust structures to bolster UDA’s national presence, and we urge members of smaller parties to join UDA so that we can reap the benefits of being in government,” Wangamati proclaimed.

Wangamati also commended Cleophas Malala for his unwavering dedication to the UDA party and pledged to spearhead a mass defection campaign to UDA starting the following week.

The gathering at Members Club in Bungoma showcased the determination of UDA leaders to galvanize support and consolidate their presence in the region.

With a united front and a commitment to accountability and development, these leaders aim to usher in a new era of progress for the Luhya community.
