Radio Citizen presenter Willy M Tuva has picked an online fist with singer Steve Kay over a Facebook post.
The celebrated journalist had shared a post on Facebook promoting a new studio in the city and whose charges appeared to favour young upcoming artists.
“Record two songs for only 8K at their state-of-the-art studios with leading producers,” posted Tuva with the poster of the promo.

But to his amazement, Steve Kay, who is considered the King of Luhya music, hit back at Tuva, challenging him to explain why he never support young talents as he claims in his promo.
“Mzazi Willy M. Tuva, the day you will hold anyone from the village to the nation, I’ll be the first person to congratulate you. Fast Bon, Bassil Vishindo, Matata and others are still waiting for your support. But we love you for supporting Tanzanian music,” responded Steve Kay.
Feeling that Steve Kay was basically mocking him for preaching water while drinking Gilbeys, the veteran journalist reportedly went to the Mbee Mukhasi hit maker’s WhatsApp inbox to yell out his anger.
“Next time you come to my page with the intention to tarnish my name, make sure you have done your research well and have facts. If you don’t know me and what I have done for the industry and artists, most of whom are your role models, then you have no business being on my page,” read a message to Steve Kay’s phone in a screenshot showing it was coming from the Mseto East Africa show host.
Asked if the duo have a beef escalating so fast, Steve Kay said he has no personal issues with the renowned presenter, noting that he was only pointing out some hyphens of hypocrisy in Willy M. Tuva’s dealings.
“This guy has been riding on upcoming artists in the name of helping them boost their music career but all he does is playing too much of Tanzanian music on his show,” said Steve Kay in an interview with this writer.
Our efforts to reach out to M. Tuva for comments were unsuccessful as his lines were unreachable.
