Political leaders in Bungoma County have called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to expedite investigations into the brutal murder of 31-year-old electrical practitioner Andrew Lukhale Ndongoli, whose body was found decomposing in Muyai Dam on April 15, 2025.

Speaking at Ndongoli’s burial in Kabuchai village on Tuesday, West-Nalondo ward MCA Polycarp Wandabusi commended the DCI’s efforts in gathering evidence but urged immediate arrests of the main suspects.

“We are asking the Department of Criminal Investigation to arrest the main suspects with immediate effect as they continue to put their files together,” Wandabusi said.

Wandabusi’s sentiments were echoes by the Former Deputy County Commissioner and Kabuchai parliamentary aspirant Eric Wanyonyi, who criticized the delay in apprehending two key suspects who have since fled the village.

“The officers should have at least made efforts to arrest the two main suspects who are now at large instead of taking too much time,” Wanyonyi stated.

Ndongoli was last seen alive on Thursday, April 10, 2025. Concerns arose the following day when his phone intermittently went on and off.

On April 15, residents discovered an unidentified decomposing body in Muyai Dam, approximately 1 kilometer from Ndongoli’s home, where he had recently moved in with his partner.

The body was identified as Ndongoli’s the next day after friends and family initiated an identification process.

A postmortem conducted on April 17 revealed an external impact on Ndongoli’s head, pointing to foul play.

Suspicion deepened when Ndongoli’s partner and another man reportedly vanished from the village upon news of the body’s identification, raising questions about their involvement.

Wanyonyi dismissed suicide as a possible cause, noting inconsistencies in the circumstances of Ndongoli’s death.

“Even if it was suicide, at least he’d walk towards his death with shoes, but in this case, how did he leave his house barefoot to walk towards the dam?” he questioned, suggesting Ndongoli may have been killed elsewhere, possibly in his house, before being dumped away in the dam.

As investigations continue, Ndongoli’s family is left grappling with grief and frustration, clinging to hopes that justice will be served for their loved one.

The community remains on edge, awaiting answers in a case that has shaken Kabuchai village.
