In a strongly worded statement that has sent shockwaves across the political landscape, Dr. Isaac Newton Kinity has warned that the recent appointment of Prof Kithure Kindiki as Kenya’s Deputy President could spell disaster for the entire nation.
Speaking with a sense of urgency, Dr Kinity specifically cautioned the Kikuyu, Kisii and Luhya communities, accusing President William Ruto of orchestrating a scheme to oppress and manipulate ethnic groups for political gain.
“The appointment of Kithure Kindiki is not just a political maneuver. It’s a disaster for all Kenyans,” Kinity said.
“What we are witnessing is the beginning of an era of suffering, oppression and intimidation, all orchestrated by Ruto’s regime.”
Kinity alleges that the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was not due to his misconduct but rather a well-executed political strategy.
“Rigathi’s downfall had nothing to do with corruption or incompetence. It was about Ruto replacing him with a more loyal puppet who will carry out his personal agenda,” Kinity remarked, adding that Kindiki fits the bill perfectly.
A Calculated Move?
According to Kinity, Ruto has long planned to sideline Gachagua, whom he viewed as an obstacle.
“Gachagua made a grave mistake by alienating former President Uhuru Kenyatta and trying to win Ruto’s trust.”
He thought that by turning against Uhuru, Ruto would forgive his past and clear his court cases. Little did he know, Ruto had other plans,” Kinity explained.
The former anti-corruption activist went on to claim that Ruto’s ultimate plan is to manipulate ethnic tensions across the country, especially between the Kalenjin and Kikuyu communities.
“Ruto has been using Kikuyu leaders, including Gachagua, to weaken their own community. Now, with Gachagua out of the picture, he has placed Kindiki in a position of power to further his divisive agenda,” Kinity warned.
Kinity’s concerns extend beyond political appointments. He accused Ruto of harboring deeper, ethnically charged motives, especially concerning the presence of Kisii and Luhya communities in regions like Kitale. “
“Mark my words: Ruto’s endgame involves ethnic manipulation, and it won’t stop with the Kikuyu. His anger extends to the Kisiis and Luhyas in Kitale,” Kinity said, adding that this could create dangerous divisions across the country.
Kindiki’s Alleged Role in Brutal Crackdowns
Dr. Kinity also took aim at Kindiki’s past actions, accusing him of being directly involved in brutal government crackdowns on protestors.
“Let’s not forget that Kindiki was at the forefront during the March Gen Z protests where young demonstrators were killed. He was also instrumental in the violent suppression of opposition supporters in June and July,” he added.
The accusations don’t stop there. Kinity linked Kindiki to the arrest of Kikuyu elders during a prayer session at Mt. Kenya and the controversial detention of landowners in Naivasha, allegedly under President Ruto’s direct orders.
A Grim Future
Kinity’s forecast for the country’s future under the Ruto-Kindiki administration is bleak. “With Kindiki as Deputy President, Ruto is preparing to clamp down even harder. We will likely see more violent crackdowns on dissent, and it’s only a matter of time before Ruto appoints an even more ruthless figure to the Internal Security docket,” Kinity warned.
He called on legislators to rethink their support for President Ruto. “Many MPs are blindly following Ruto without understanding the long-term consequences. If they don’t wake up soon, they will regret it when it’s too late,” Kinity cautioned.
In his closing remarks, Kinity painted a grim picture of what lies ahead for Kenya. “If Ruto and Kindiki’s agenda is allowed to continue unchecked, Kenya will be thrown into unprecedented internal strife. The ethnic divisions they are sowing could destroy the country’s stability,” he warned.
