Excitement is building in Bungoma as the second edition of the Hopkins Super Cup Tournament gets underway this weekend, blending thrilling football action with a noble cause during the Easter holidays.
The tournament, organized by Hopkins Referral Hospital, kicks off tomorrow, April 4, and concludes on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Sudi Stadium.
Twelve teams from across the country will battle it out in this charity event aimed at raising awareness for blood donation.

Participating teams include defending champions Bungoma Umri FC, alongside Hopkins FC, Nzoia Wazee, Daktari FC, Busia Masters, LifeCare FC, Bungoma Wazito FC, Webuye Unfit FC, St Luke’s Hospital FC, Kakamega CGH FC, Kisii TRH FC, and Ngubu Veterans FC.
Umri FC will be looking to retain their crown after a hard-fought victory in the inaugural edition held in March 2024 at the same venue, where they edged out the Nairobi-based Daktari FC in a thrilling final.
Dr. Omweri Ombonye, CEO of Hopkins Hospital, has extended a warm welcome to football fans, urging them to come out in large numbers to cheer on their favorite teams while also taking the opportunity to donate blood.
“This is more than just a football tournament,” Dr. Ombonye said.
“It is an Easter celebration that brings communities together for both sporting excellence and a life-saving cause. We encourage everyone to participate actively — cheer loudly and donate blood to save lives.”

The Hopkins Super Cup is powered by Hopkins Referral Hospital and carries the theme of health and passion.
Organizers hope the event will not only entertain fans but also boost blood stocks at local health facilities through on-site donation drives.
Sudi Stadium, located in Kanduyi Sub-County and home to Nzoia Sugar FC, is expected to host intense matches over the two days, with fans anticipated to fill the stands for what promises to be a memorable Easter football bonanza.
Entry is open to the public, and organizers have called on residents of Bungoma and neighboring counties to turn up in large numbers to support local and visiting teams while contributing to the blood donation initiative.

The tournament underscores the growing role of corporate and health institutions in using sports to address community needs, combining the passion for football with humanitarian efforts during the festive Easter season.
