In a heartwarming display of community support and sporting goodwill, football enthusiasts in Bungoma town rallied together to organize a charity tournament benefiting children under the age of 15 at Mukhaweli Primary School.

The tournament, aimed at the U10, U13, and U15 categories, rewarded winners with invaluable educational resources such as free books and biro pens, aligning with the upcoming school reopening scheduled for Monday.

Organizers expressed their commitment to fill a notable gap, emphasizing that while the December holidays witnessed numerous tournaments, most were exclusively for senior players, leaving younger talents without opportunities to showcase their skills and passion for the sport.

Fostering talent development and instilling a sense of dedication among young learners remained the primary focus and ethos behind this charitable event.

Held on a vibrant Sunday, the tournament attracted eight teams, predominantly comprising participants from various slum communities, affirming the inclusive nature of the initiative.

Speaking on behalf of Bungoma Muslim Youth, Chairman Suleiman Komen underscored the tournament’s noble objective, highlighting its mission to provide essential learning materials such as books, pens and other educational necessities to children in need.

Adding to the philanthropic gesture, FKF Branch Chairman and Bungoma Superstars FC Patron, Eng. Denis Simiyu, generously contributed footballs to the event, signaling a commitment to furthering youth football development within the area.

Acknowledging the overwhelming support, Haikal Yusuf, Founder of Bungoma All Stars, extended gratitude to all participants and supporters, urging the community to continue backing budding talents on their journey to success.

In an intense U15 category final, Mupeli FC emerged victorious, securing a 5-4 victory in post-match penalties against a resilient Bungoma All Stars following a goalless draw.

Looking ahead, Isaac announced plans for the upcoming tournament scheduled for April, promising a league format involving an expanded array of teams and supporters.

The upcoming event aims to continue nurturing young talents while fostering community engagement and support for budding football stars in Bungoma.
