The eagerly anticipated finals of the Cleo Malalah Super Cup, poised for an intense clash between Lirhembe Arsenal and Kona Legends at Mumias Complex Stadium, Kakamega County, have been postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malalah, speaking exclusively to WakajuanessLive.Com in a telephone interview, announced the unfortunate delay, citing the heavy downpour that rendered the field unplayable today.

The much-anticipated all-Kakamega County final between Lirhembe Arsenal from Ikolomani Constituency and Kona Legends from Likuyani Constituency was postponed after the playing surface became heavily flooded, making it impossible to proceed with today’s scheduled match.

“We have made the decision to postpone the finals due to the heavy rain, and the two deserving finalists will now go head-to-head on Sunday, 31st December 2023, at 12:00 PM,” affirmed the Senator.

Adding a zest to the tournament, Senator Malalah announced an enticing offer, promising free t-shirts to the first 10,000 fans arriving at Mumias Complex on Sunday morning.

The stakes are high, with the victorious team set to walk away with an impressive cash prize of Ksh3,000,000, while the runners-up will secure half of that coveted figure.

Lirhembe Arsenal earned their spot in the finals after a hard-fought victory, edging out Titanic FC from Shinyalu Constituency with a solitary goal. Conversely, Kona Legends secured their place in tomorrow’s showdown by winning 5-4 in a post-match penalty shootout against a resilient Obucuun from Teso Constituency, Busia County.

Notably, a premiun assemblage of dignitaries has already graced the venue, including the presence of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

Anticipation is rife for the presence of Chief Guest, President William Ruto, expected to grace this prestigious tournament that has garnered acclaim as the most prominent and grandest event on African soil.

Fans and participants alike eagerly await Sunday’s rescheduled final, anticipating an electrifying showdown between two formidable football clubs vying for the coveted Cleo Malalah Super Cup.
