Bungoma Superstars Football Club displayed a remarkable performance as they secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Muhoroni Young at Sudi Stadium, earning praise from coach Ibrahim Shikanda.
Daniel ‘Dada’ Juma emerged as the star of the match, delivering a hat trick, while Samuel Waswa contributed a crucial goal with a well-timed tap in.
This comprehensive win dealt a blow to Muhoroni Young, who have struggled with only one victory since the commencement of the season.
Dada, who has faced criticism from fans, silenced his detractors by scoring his first goal of the season within the opening 2 minutes. He continued his scoring spree with another goal half an hour later and completed his impressive hat trick in the 50th minute.
In the 72nd minute, Samuel Waswa added to Muhoroni’s woes by extending Bungoma Superstars’ lead.
Coach Shikanda expressed satisfaction with the team’s stellar performance and urged his players to maintain this positive momentum.
“That was a sterling performance and I want my boys to continue with the spirit going forward,” remarked Shikanda, who has only suffered two defeats since taking charge of the Bungoma side in September.
“My striking force has been worrying, but teamwork from the management, technical bench and the playing unit has seen these amazing results.”
With this victory, Bungoma Superstars climbed to the 7th position in the league standings, moving up from the 9th spot and accumulating a total of 21 points, though still trailing behind league leaders 105 FC and Bomet FC by nine points.
On the flip side, Muhoroni Young find themselves in the 13th position with a meager 11 points.
Dada’s hat trick marks a significant achievement for Bungoma Superstars, reminiscent of Hillary Simiyu’s feat four years ago before his subsequent moves to Nzoia Sugar FC and Ulinzi Stars.
Looking ahead, Bungoma Superstars face a challenging fixture as they travel to confront Bondo United in Siaya County on Saturday. The team aims to maintain its winning form and further improve its standing in the league.
