Christopher Situma was heroic at Ndura Sports Complex when his double in the either halves helped Bungoma Superstars pick a deserved 1-3 win away in Kitale.

Defender Wilson Werunga had put the visitors ahead in the 13th minute, slotting home a free kick from the edge of the box in the FKF Division One Zone B League fixture.

Situma headed home with 14 minutes to half time after a melee in the box, leaving the hosts with a game to chase.

With a seemingly comfortable lead at half time, Coach Francis ‘Sakata’ Mukhebi, who had only made one change in the starting lineup that started in their previous 1-0 win against Muhoroni, brought in Bruce Fwaro for Collins Wandela.

The tiny youngsters did not disappoint as he kept on threatening the Transfoc full backs with his dangerous runs.

Transfoc, eager to pull one back, miscalculated an offside trap that saw the visitors surge into the box for the resultant Situma to slot into the bottom right corner for a double in the 54th minute.

Bungoma Superstars continued to be tactical in all corners, knowing how frustrated Transfoc were to get an equaliser.

Defender Levy Wesonga was forced into action, saving Sakata’s men from bushes with his goal line clearance that denied the hosts their opener.

However, a defensive error at the back allowed Transfoc to sneak into the box and find the back of the net but too late to edit the scoreboard that remained 1-3.

With their Club Patron Eng. Denis Nyongesa also in the stands, Bungoma Superstars stayed inspired to revenge against Transfoc who won 0-1 in Bungoma during the first leg.

This was Bungoma Superstars’ fifth game in a row without a loss, winning three and a handshake of two.

Coach Sakata has hailed his team’s resilience, saying their renewed energy is as a result of ‘self determination and confidence.
