A fierce battle is shaping up for Webuye East parliamentary seat with the emergency of new alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The competition is gradually gaining traction with candidates in the past election angling for new alliances as some go silent and opt out of the race all together.
Two candidates in the last election Dr. Iyaya Makhakha and Evans Murumba have gone mute. Rumour has it that the two have opted out of the race.
Political brokers are taking advantage of the fierce competition with known and emerging brokers eying a slice of the pie from the contenders.
Already two camps have emerged in the race pitting the current MP Martin Wanyonyi aka Investor against the second camp that has politicians Aggrey Namisi and a third top politician who contested in the last elections. The two are said to be in talks to support a new entrant CPA Thomas Isokat Nakitare aka Isevele.
As the race unfolds, three political brokers are on the loose for double dealing of candidates and underhand machinations. The trio Andrew Chiuli alias Matatiso, Eric Wambasi and Oscar Namusasi are belging after having their stomachs full as a result of political prostitution.
Mr. Wambasi, a reject from former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati’s regime is said to have resurrected politically currently double dealing between Hon. Isevele and the current MP Martin Investor.
Both camps are suspicious of his moves as he attends meetings in both camps then goes out auctioning information he has gathered.
On the other hand, Matatiso found himself at crossroads when he was sent to represent both Hon. Isevele and Hon. Investor at a funeral funds drive.
While presenting Hon. Isevele’s contribution, he hit at other candidates including the area MP for not supporting residents especially at their hour of need.
He however made a quick about turn the following day when the MP sent him to represent him in the same funeral. Mr. Matatiso is said to have been confused and mumbled a few incoherent words when he was invited to address the gathering before he left in a huff.
Mr. Oscar Namusasi, a County Assembly of Bungoma employee who was inherited from the defunct Bungoma County Council is another broker on the spot. Mr. Namusasi who has been rejected a number of times as a union representative for local government workers now plies his trade for MP investor.
He has on many occasions castigated Mihuu MCA Violet Makhanu who has also shown interest in the race while privately pretending to be supporting her when they meet.
Investor is said to have assigned Oscar the singular duty of causing divisions in the larger Sifuma family. Oscar’s brief from the MP is to undermine the candidature of Hon. Isevele, Hon. Aggrey Namisi and Hon. Caro Buyela all who come from the larger Abangachi clan.
Oscar has been organizing secret family meetings alongside Matatiso to ensure Investor penetrates the larger Abangachi clan who have rejected him. He recently organized a political meeting at the home of former Councilor Njebwe Nakitare but the family was uncomfortable making the MP and Oscar fail to prosecute their political agenda.
The MP and Oscar made the meeting appear a vist to Hon. Njebwe who ahs been ailing and undergoing treatment.
The three Eric Wambasi. Matatiso and Oscar organized for the crowning of MP Investor at the traditional function for the late Tachoni elder Mzee Iningiklo. Once again, the three dressed the MP in a hotel using some traditional regalia brought in by Erick Wambasi.
The MP was during the traditional function attacked by a cow which many described as a bad omen. The three took a back seat to watch the unfolding drama as they made frantic calls.
As the race continues to take shape, the three men will keep eating and belging until they are stopped right in their tracks
