ODM Director of Communication, Phillip Etale, has hinted at trying his luck as Lugari Constituency MP in 2027.
Speaking on vernacular station, Mumbo FM, in Bungoma on Thursday, the vibrant journalist hinted to the residents of Lugari of his possible candidature in 2027.
Revealing why he didn’t vie in 2022 general election, Mr. Etale said he was persuade by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to step down from the race and continue serving ODM and Azimio during the crucial campaign that had projected Raila to win and occupy State House.
“I want to apologise to the people of Lugari for not availing my candidature in the 2022 election. My Party Leader Raila Odinga persuaded me to help him at National level but as you saw, the campaign ended and here I’m coming to serve my people at home,” said the former KBC and Citizen TV reporter.
Asked if he has any issues with the current MP Nabii Nabwera, Etale clarified that he fully supports the incumbent to deliver to the people but when time comes, he will swing into the rece and battle it out with Nabwera.
Etale also accused the Kenya Kwanza government led by President William Ruto on hiking the cost of living and deviating from their campaign promises.
“Immediately they came into government, Ruto abandoned his promises and launched new ones, which have now worsened the living standards of millions of innocent Kenyans.”
Etale also challenged the Kenya Kwanza government to listen to the Azimio experts on lowering the cost of living, saying that every move that Ruto has made to overule Azimio, has ended up suffocating Kenyans.
President Ruto raised the fuel levy to 16% from 8%, making the cost of living highest since independence.
On the credibility of election, Etale challenged former IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati of hypocrisy by roaming in foreign countries to preach about credible elections while not applying the same in his homeland Kenya where even opening the servers for transparency is an elephant in the house.
Etale also advised residents of Western Kenya against selling their pieces of land to cartels and leaving their families generations with no inheritance.
Etale was born and raised in Lugari, going through Lugari Primary School before joining St Paul’s Lugari Secondary School.
He has promised to boost education, infrastructure and social-economic welfare of youth and women in Lugari Constituency once he gets elected.
