When you combine a mixture of joy and sombre mood during one’s trying moment, then you accurately arrive in the shoes of the Bungoma Woman Representative aspirant, Naliaka Waswa.

The 37 year old had just joined the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) on February 15th, 2022 hoping that she’d clinch the party’s nomination certificate for the Bungoma Woman Representative position in the forthcoming General election.

However, this was not the case as her wishes were washed away by the party’s leadership decision to give a direct ticket to former WR, Dr. Reginalda Wanyonyi, a decision Waswa did not protest.

Her predicaments were made worse when she lost her dear father on the day she was to get a UDP nomination certificate in Nairobi.

Major General Joseph Vincent Waswa breathed his last in the morning of 21st April, 2022, at the Bungoma County Referral Hospital after a reportedly short illness.

Speaking to WakajuanessLive.Com, Naliaka Waswa described her then 78-year old father as a “great inspiration” to the society.

“He didn’t only inspire us as a family but also inspired the whole society due to his fatherly values,” stated Naliaka, who has been working with Radio Africa as Chief Marketer.

Despite regretting her father’s sudden demise, Naliaka Waswa has acknowledgedthat such moments are sometimes meant to gauge one’s strength.

“It’s a tough moment both at family and political level but we will come out stronger,” she vowed.

Naliaka is among the highly talked of Woman Representative aspirants in Bungoma, describing herself as the best replacement for the incumbent, Catherine Wambilianga, of Ford Kenya.

Her father’s burial in Tuuti, Kibabii, is expected to attract the who is who in the Kenyan politics.
