Bungoma Governor Kenneth Makelo Lusaka on Friday 12th May, 2023, hosted the Bungoma High School Drama team at his Mapera home.
Speaking during the unique fete, Mr. Lusaka congratulated Bungoma High School drama students for their top act in the just concluded National Drama Festival competition held in Mombasa County.
“I want to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your spectacular performance at the National Drama Festival in Mombasa,” said Governor Lusaka.
Bungoma High Sschool scooped the National award for the best Choral verse, composed and directed by the School’s iconic drama teacher, Mr Toil Khisa aka TK.
The School also brought home the award for the best boys school nationally in Science and Engineering under the stewardship of their Science Teacher Murunga Philae in a competition held in Kisumu.
Governor Lusaka, who is a former stage actor himself, assured the school of his commitment towards nurturing talents and creative industry saying, if well supported, can bring honor to our county.
“Drama and other talent fields are very noble in creating job opportunities and as your Governor, I’m committed to nurturing all these talents.”
Lusaka also thanked the Bungoma High School Principal Mr. Enoch Andanje for his passion in supporting talent, saying school Heads play a very vital role in identifying and nurturing talent.
On his side, the Principal promised to turn Bungoma High School into a powerhouse of both academic and co-curricular products.
“We thank H.E Governor Lusaka for your support and promise that we will keep on manufacturing serious academic and outside-classroom talents,” said Mr. Andanje.
This comes barely a month after Governor Lusaka sponsored the Bungoma County Drama Festival Gala held at Kibabii University.
The gala brought together all the drama teams from within Bungoma County that had qualified for the National Festival.
Other teachers who accompanied the team include Mr. Toili Khisa and the school’s football coach Mr. David Kalamu.
