Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati is likely to miss this year’s Men’s Conference after his wife allegedly blocked him from leaving the house.

In a Facebook post published on the eve of the Valentine’s Day, the actuarial confessed that he will not attend the Men’s conference due to marital issues.

Despite wishing his followers a Happy Valentines, the first-time Governor regretted missing out on the virtual conference after H.E Mama Caroline Wangamati reportedly undermined his chances of any possible exit from their matrimonial home.

“I wish you all lots of fun this Valentine’s and don’t eat too much of ‘sweets’; stay healthy and happy,” posted the County Chief who is seeking a second term under the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K).

But he went on: “Alafu wadau, hii Men’s Conference sioni nikitokea. Mamaa amenifungia na mapenzi mob, nimejaribu lakini wapi. Chezeni kama nyinyi, nawaminia watu wangu. – However my guys, I won’t see myself attending this Men’s Conference. Madam has engulfed me with love; I have tried [to escape] but in vain. Do your thing maen, I have confidence in you,” he added.

Governor Wangamati is married to Carol Wangamati, who has an undergraduate degree in Economics from Kenyatta University. She is an accomplished banker, an alumni of Loreto High School in Limuru, according to MyCounty.co.ke.

The no-nonsense, slim-looking First Lady describes herself as assertive, knowledgeable, and articulate whose junior staff describe as tough, punctual and straight to the point.

She has been a fearless advocate for Bungoma’s health care and has pushed for community health workers to get stipends to help them do their jobs better.

She has also been involved in several programs aimed at supporting the maternal health of Bungoma women as well as the Anti-Fustula initiative which has benefited over 70 women that have undergone free surgery to restore their dignity.

In his inaugural speech, Governor Wangamati recognized his wife as a reliable partner and friend.

The couple is blessed with three children. Their home is built in the outskirts of Bungoma town along Bungoma-Eldoret Highway.

The Men’s Conference, which everyone is talking about, is simply a three day long, imaginary conference that is scheduled between 14 and 16 February.

The Men’s Conference is merely a clever strategy by boyfriends and husbands to optimise and avoid doing all those romantic things for their partners and wives.

The Kenya’s Men’s Conference, which was founded by renowned Rift Valley farmer Mzee Kibor, has been gaining momentum every year, with other Boy Child advocates like Amerix, radio presenter Kibe among others, “scheduled to give key notes”.

Wangamati’s failure to attend the conference may not ogre well with his opponents especially those in Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka’s camp who have vowed to unseat him in the coming election.
