Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has sarcastically thanked Deputy President William Ruto for taking away the ‘problems’ that were facing the Luhya nation.

Speaking at Muliro Garden in Webuye town on Sunday 13 March, 2022, during the Azimio Mtaani rally, Wangamati claimed that taking Mudavadi and Wetang’ula into his camp was offloading the heavy burdens that have been troubling Luhyas.

“We have suffered in the opposition. This time, those who have been misleading us with their selfish interests have gone and we thank the Deputy President for taking these problems away from us,” Wangamati said amidst cheers from the crowd.

“Their departure has created a clear path to the fresh leadership of Eugene Wamalwa and Wycliffe Oparanya in the region.”

Wangamati encouraged residents of Bungoma County and the entire region to vote Raila Amollo Odinga as the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya and be part of the next Government or risk being in opposition for another five years.

Wangamati castigated Mr. Wetang’ula for going to Kenya Kwanza Alliance as ‘bonus’ after Mudavadi was bought by Ruto.

The governor, who was elected on Ford Kenya ticket, also took the opportunity to urge the people of Bungoma to re-elect him for another term to continue with serving the residents.

Wangamati also reconciled with his Deputy Governor Prof. Charles Ngome who had joined Ruto’s UDA. Professor Ngome was welcomed to DAP-K party by Party Leaders Wafula Wamunyinyi and CS Eugene Wamalwa.

This was the first Azimio rally in Bungoma since the coalition endorsed the former Prime Minister as their presidential flag bearer in Nairobi yesterday.

Other leaders who accompanied Mr. Wangamati include Busia Governor Sospeter Ojamoong, Kisii Governor James Ongwae, MPs Kanini Kega (Kieni Constituency), Peter Nabulindo (Matungu), Tindi Mwale (Butere), Dr. Eseli Simiyu (Tongaren) and several MCAs in the Azimio la Umoja.
