Nzoia Sugar FC moved to the top of the FKF Premier League table for the first time in history after demolishing Wazito FC at Sudi.

The millers, who had postponed climbing to the table by pretending with a barren draw against well oiled Tusker FC over the weekend, pounced on a notorious Wazito FC to go two points clear at the top.

Joseph Mwangi could have secured the league’s fastest goal of the season under the opening minute when he failed to connect with Hassan Beja’s through pass.

Mwangi rectified his error in the 8th minute by pulling a lead after winning a corner on the left flank that saw Beja’s half attempt slotted home by Mwangi, leaving Wazito’s custodian Ezekiel Onyango helpless.

New signing Yassin Sije missed a glorious chance to double the lead six minutes later when his attempt rattled the cross bar, sending the grassy stadium to heavens.

Little had Sije rued over his missed chance that Joseph Mwangi doubled the lead a minute later, blasting the sporting atmosphere around the sugar nucleus plant to go wild.

Wazito nearly lost their weight in the 18th minute when the effervescent Mwangi caused jitters down the left flank, beating Fred Onyango and setting up Yassin Sije, who set him up again but with the last ditch clearance by Dennis Owino saving the situation to maintain the dashboard.

Wazito pretended to pull one back three minutes later when Dickson Raila’s rasping shot crashed the cross bar with Humphrey Katasi seemingly well beaten.

However, it did not take more than a minute for Mwangi to secure the league’s first ever hattrick of the season, volleying in to make it 3-0.

Even as Wazito were finalising to make a substitution in their centre back, Hassan Beja buried the forth past Onyango, following intricate interplay between Mwangi and Felicien Okanda, sending the hosts into half-time with a deserved 4-0.

With the second half running out drama, the available news reporters didn’t have much to pen home as Wazito bowed out to a 4-0 thrashing by Nzoia FC.

The win now propels Salim Babu’s boys to the top of the league with 21 points ahead of KCB and Tusker.

Nzoa has now won 6 matches, 3 draws and lost one match so far.
